Re-imaging Christ - [Worship Bulletin for Brookmeade Congregational Church]

ÔÇ£The goal of this project was to systematically introduce art images into local churches through the Revised Common Lectionary Project online that might help aid in a departure from systemic racism and marginalization of those who fall outside of what VDS Dean Emilie Townes calls the ÔÇÿwhite hegemonic imagination.ÔÇÖ┬á Thus, introducing new images into churches who access this website (over 200,000 on Easter Sunday alone, for example) might increase our imaginations of what it looks like to practice peace, love, joy, hope and faith.┬á This project is meant to make way for more representation of those who are often marginalized or misunderstood.┬áMany local churches only access art through this website for their Sunday bulletins and so I wanted to introduce new artists to local churches and I hope that this project will continue to be updated.┬á I really believe in the power of art in an age of Instagram and visual entertainment.┬á This could help those who process and express themselves more non-verbally have access to progress as well, hopefully.┬á This is a matter of progress for the imagination.ÔÇØ
