Diversity of Spirit - [Worship Order for Vanderbilt Divinity School Worship]

ÔÇ£Vanderbilt Divinity School (VDS) introduced me to artists like Omari Booker, Kelly Latimore, and Lauren Wright Pittman of lewpstudio.com, to name a few. The Divinity School also increased my imagination about the world I live in, helping me see how people of color are marginalized and oppressed. While I knew about that, I didn't understand the depth of racism and did not know how to begin the path toward antiracism until having attended VDS. The first step, according to Ibram Kendi, is admitting that we are sometimes being racist or taking part in what Dean of VDS calls the ÔÇÿwhite hegemonic imagination.ÔÇÖ Thus, churches can be perpetuating systemic racism when all of their images only include people with white skin. So, I wanted to continue the Revised Common Lectionary project alongside the Divinity Library by introducing even more artists whose images move our imaginations away from a culture of whiteness and toward progress on the road to healing racial division. Since this website is used by so many churches, I wanted to introduce these artists in a place that is already a widely-used source for those who use the Revised Common Lectionary. The goal is to meet people where they are and include new artists into an on-going, established platform.ÔÇØ
